On the day of the draft, one of the worst picks of the day (excluding Gottsegen’s entire draft of course: “Byrnes is the poor man’s Sizemore!”) was when Bleak picked Adrian Gonzalez in the first round. Seriously? A Padre? A first baseman that we all thought would be there 5 rounds later? And you won the league? There must have been a power failure in Utah.

Well tonight Adrian just knocked in his 55th run, to go along with 17 HRs. Using my excellent mathematical skills of deduction, Gonzalez has driven in roughly 73% of the Padres runs this season. And I think he’s hit 94% of their home runs. It’s science.

I am rarely surprised by much when it comes to this stuff, but I am literally floored at the season Gonzalez has put up.
